The latest crew enrichment activity: an elaborately staged drag show competition. Hosts, judges, lights, costume changes. And it was easily the most attended crew activity I’ve seen so far. The big theater was packed with crew, some of them with giant signs to support the contestants from their corner of the ship (“GO SPA TEAM!”and one with the name of the ship’s sushi restaurant).
The security team was especially vigilant, sweeping the crowd to make sure no non-crew somehow stumbled into this spectacle. At one point a security guard swooped in and turned his flashlight on us, mistaking us for passengers (something that happens frequently), but when he recognized us he chuckled and moved on.
I didn’t stay until the end but heard the next day that the winner was the transsexual contestant, which is maybe an unfair advantage, but supposedly she’s pre-op so I suppose it’s not cheating, exactly.
