A belated Easter lunch for the crew in one of the nicer restaurants on the ship, one that most of the crew isn’t usually allowed to eat in.
While people waited in line, the pool-side Caribbean band played and they ended their set with a song that I’d never heard before, but most of the lyrics were, “So nice, so nice to be home… so nice, so nice to be home…” with the occasional, “I want to see me friends and me family,” but mostly just, “so nice to be home,” over and over again.
And it kind of affected me, made me long for home.
And it’s funny, the songs the bands play for the passengers and the songs they play for the crew. Passengers hear about wasting away again in Margaritaville and how a Holiday “will be so nice,” while crew know that it would be “so nice to be home.”
